Uncle Tony sent this to me:
How do the Mean 15 racers gear up for a World of Outlaws feature event? On Friday, they got in gear by competing in the inaugural Mean 15 Kart Clash at Volusia Speedway Park's dirt go-kart oval.
Former World of Outlaws rookie of the year Randy Hannagan charged past fellow Mean 15 racer Daryn Pittman and Shane Carson to take the checkered flag in front of a cheering crowd during the 35th Annual Winternationals.
In keeping with the fun and loose atmosphere, which featured drivers signing autographs and taking pictures with fans of all ages, several of the drivers' wives climbed in the karts and staged their own feature event. With a little motivation from her husband, Lori McCarl worked the low line to perfection and joined Hannagan in Victory Lane.
"It was a really fun deal," Mean 15 racer Terry McCarl said. "It was nice to let the girls have a shot at it. I was kind of surprised they'd do it, but they're racers, too. They're all really competitive. It was fun and exciting, but I can see their side of it, too. I was really nervous for her, but I was happy and excited when she won."
Highlights from the Kart Clash will air during The Outdoor Channel's coverage of Race Weeks at 8 p.m. Eastern on March 1.
